While I still think Apple has a better design appeal (not to mention using one), Dell has finally upped it’s game with the new ultra thin, and quite stylish “Adamo” laptop.

With it’s thin and lightweight aluminum body, edge-to-edge glass display, keys with thin spaces between, built-in camera, and Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the Adamo seems poised to compete with the Apple MacBook Air. Dell even has an external CD/DVD burner and hard drive, like the Air, to minimize the structure from having to include an internal media tray.
Sadly the Adamo costs nearly $400 more ($2,000) than the Air, which seems like it would be a hard sell in this economy. The entire marketing strategy on their site appears to be aiming at high end, fashion-conscious buyers. But for $2K, I’d likely consult buyers to consider a MacBook Pro if their needs are more than just surfing the web and email.
Dell still has a beautiful product and potential for a lot of sales. The design is clean and modern, yet somehow looks like my toolbox of craftsfman tools. I’d still lean toward a MacBook or MB Pro, if I were considering spending this much for a portable computer.
