Create and burn disk images and archives with a simple drag and drop.

What Is DropDMG?

DropDMG is the easiest way to create Mac OS X disk images. Just drag and drop a folder or file, and DropDMG will create an image in .dmg, .img, or .smi format—or a Tar, Zip, or StuffIt archive. Or, you can drag an existing image or archive file onto DropDMG to easily convert it to any of the other supported formats. DropDMG supports encryption, segmented images, and custom icons, and it can create images with rich-text license agreements in multiple languages. There are many time-saving features such as temporary preferences when you hold down Option, remembering recent folders, configurations to keep track of popular combinations of settings, and the ability to create more than one image or archive at a time. All the options are available from Automator, AppleScript, and from the dropdmg command-line tool.

I get asked often by local photographers if they can rent my gear. While I’m usually willing to talk about it, I’ve more often been referring them to great places online to rent their gear. Here are a few to look into if you’re in need of DSLR bodies, lenses or other accessories (batteries, filters, etc.)

http://lensrentals.com — they also rent bodies, batteries, accessories. Awesome equip and prices. I hear nothing but great things about them from photographers.

http://glazerscamera.com — good place in Seattle that i’ve rented from before. Nice to have someone in the Northwest to deal with for speedy shipping at cheaper prices.

http://rentglass.com — I have not used them but they look similar to lensrentals.com

hmmm…if it had a color screen and could play video or picture feeds from Flickr or my website, & better touch screen, then it might interest me… I don’t read many books…mostly blogs or listen to audiobooks, podcasts and music. Guess I’ll just wait until Apple releases (praying) a Mac Tablet this year… But those who read a lot I can see this being a joy to use. Great replacement for magazines, newspapers, and books.

The larger screen would be helpful, compared to the smaller one on the standard model. I’m not sure the prices should be so high on either of these models. It does include an unlimited monthly internet plan over 3G or Wifi, but that doesn’t justify the price to me, as 3G isn’t available in my city. And if I rely on wifi, then I might as well use my computer’s 24” screen and internet connection. I’m not convinced but will be anxious to see some reviews on the Kindle DX.

I know, you’re asking, why am I posting a Windows article on a Mac fan boy’s site? Well, it’s simple. The latest marketing “plan” of Microsoft 7 is ridiculous. Why buy a netbook with Windows 7 Starter on it, and be stuck with a limited machine that can only run 3 apps at once?

This just screams SWITCH TO MAC, more than anything…as the Mac OS comes with everything you need and nothing you don’t. One price for the OS with everything… $129 from Apple, but you can find discounts on Amazon under $100.
